I've been going through my wardrobe and I'm ashamed to say there's a lot I've never even worn and quite a bit I'd completely forgotten about. I've set myself a task to wear it or get rid of it.
I bought the dress above for 99p on Ebay. It was advertised as a "Vintage 70's kaftan silk lined kaftan dress." It's chiffon with silk lining and what appears to be spray on glittery flowers. I think it's vintage and homemade as there's no labels on it.
I refuse to use my camera timer as I haven't got the right sized shelf. I tried it but the pictures were dreadful and I haven't got round to buying a tripod yet. I will get organised eventually! Thanks to te lovely Sarah and Margaret who've sent me tripod links.
I stood on tiptoes on an ottoman - it's not quite working for me.
I haven't decided whether this is a keep or chuck yet. What do you think?
It's absolutely boiling outside so I might have to change again. I offered to get the food for my aunt's funeral tomorrow but hadn't really thought about the logistics of it. I'm off to M&S to pick up a ton of sandwich platters and all sorts. I've had to buy a giant cold bag to take it to Norfolk, I just hope I can get it in The Actor's Mini then in my dad's fridge! Hmmm.
We're driving to the country tonight and I think we'll wait until after the rush hour. I hope I'm not in trouble for the size of my bag, packing's never been a strong point and I don't know how long I'm staying at the moment.
I've finally chosen a black dress that I won't be too hot in and I have no idea what to wear on my feet as all my black shoes are really high. I don't want to intimidate anyone so I may have to borrow a low pair from one of my friends. I don't think flip flops are going to be appropriate, although my aunt wouldn't have minded.
It's going to be a difficult day but I'm looking forward to seeing all the family. I haven't seen some of them for twenty years.
I'm getting there with my blog reading so if I haven't caught up with you yet I promise I will soon.
Have a lovely evening xxx

There is something that Vintage Vixen says... "if it doesn't make you feel FABULOUS then chuck it"...
The thing is... you do look rather fab in it, all Spring Goddess-like.
...but if there is a question of doubt then go with Vix's feel-osophy!
Dusk, that is a brilliant philosophy...I'd try it but I have a hard time parting with things (cue need for shrink)
Christina, she's right you do look lovely in it...perhaps with sparkly sandals and a few flowers in your hair.
Carry a bloom for full effect :D
S xx
I think it would be perfect for floating round Ibiza.
Funerals are so hard, I cry like a banshee even when I don't really know the person.
It's gorgeous, looks perfect for wearing while eating breakfast in the garden . x
Hi my dear-it does look so lovely, very glam and cool for summer. Wishing you all the best for tomorrow too, take care and hope you enjoy seeing the rest of all of your family again as well xxx
My thoughts are with you today.
So sorry about your aunt.
Funerals are difficult, no matter the weather.
And I love that ebay dress.
But not for the funeral.
So sorry to hear about your Aunt. My thoughts will be with you over the next few days. Offer still stands if you would like me to shoot some outfits for you. Love as always Dvora Xxxx
Dear Christina, Dusk's said it for me! You do look fabulous in that dress but if it doesn't feel right then out it goes. There's nothing worse than not feeling a million per cent confident in something.
I hope tomorrow goes as well as can be. I've worn the same killer 6 inch platform patent heels for the last three funeral's I've been to. My loved onnes would have expected nothing less.
Love you. I'll be thinking of you. xxx
Too 12 years old and no sparkle! Chuck it!
It's super hot in Hollywood too!
WHV.
Haha! Love it. I'm really not sure about it so it's got to go.
Thanks for your comments and your kind words.
Vix, you're right - high heels it is!! xx
Christina you would look good in a sack but if it does not feel right... it also looks too big for you.
Bon Courage my love for the days ahead, I am sure there will be teary moments but from the sounds of it you will also be celebrating a life well lived.
Lots of cyber hugs

Keep it! Even if you only swoosh around the house in it! You look fabulous. I rather like the fact that you have taken a picture through via the mirror, they are such pretty frames and your rooms are obviously flooded with natural light. Keep the outfit posts coming my sweet! ;O) x
It looks fab, I love those bright flowers against the white...
My thoughts are with you over the next few days, family funerals can be a crazy mixture - goodbyes and reunions, celebration and tears. I do hope all goes well.
perfect dress for around the house, in and out of garden area, chat with neighbors over the fence, and if someone stops by and you never got dressed properly all day...to wear out...a bit too old lady ish...hard to wear with anything but flip flops.
But you're so beautiful do we really CARE how the dress works? Seriously. Good looks and youth give one so much impunity with style.
Frankly, I love the dress and you in it BUT if you won't wear it, get rid of it. Sometimes I buy clothes because I just love the artistry of them or something about them calls to me but I can't wear them because every time I do I feel wrong in them. It's hard to throw them out, though. I hope this trip is a good one and that all the tears you shed are ones that are cleansing and that you have sweet times, too.
Love you...M
Dear Christina, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow - hope all goes ok. Becka xx
Hope tomorrow's not too hard and you can celebrate your wonderful aunt's life as much as mourn her passing. If she'd not have minded the stilettos, I say wear 'em!
You look pretty in the dress (and your house looks amazing) but I don't get the feeling that it's quite 'you'.
I'd say keep it just in case, but that's what I always say.
Have fun!
k xx
Dear Christina,
You look great in your new dress, but if you do decide to 'chuck it', then can I have it please? It would be going to a good home, I would indeed cherish it!
Changing the subject, I do hope everything goes as well as it can for your Aunt's Funeral. As your good friend Vix says, do wear your heels. Thinking of you.
I always think if you haven't worn it then chuck it.. ALtho like you I am crap at Ebay listing it has to be given to the right person ..any person...
I have just shortened a gorgeous Maxmara suede skirt ebay purchase gorgeous colour .. never worn.. cut it to a mini .. and I know it will be worn.. I love the dress it makes you look very young and innocent.. great for festival days with flip flops.. etc .. not sure if I can see you in London too often.. ( only my opinion)
As for the funeral .. I hope all goes well .. I am sure you will do your aunt proud whatever you wear.. I am so sorry I have not rang you this week..I promise when you get back I will xx All my love Ruth xx
I quite like the caftan, and I know you like the style too, but I wonder if it is 'really you' overall?? I'm sure you'd do well on ebay if you sold some stuff and there's plenty of bloggers who are willing and able to help if you needed advice.
Best wishes for the funeral, I daresay you'll stay a wee while with your Dad, it must be so hard for him. there's lots of us that will be thinking of you.xx.
Hippie's dress !! beautiful dress !
http://monsacbyme.com
that's lovely that you've taken on sorting the food - one of the big "practical" things; and well done for getting the cold bag already. that would occur to me just as I was loading it into the car ;)
will be thinking of you tomorrow xx
ps kaftan to ebay, methinks
if in doubt fling it out!
I think it is absolutely beautiful, but it doesn't seem very 'you'. I can see it with a big beehive and some Pucci style 60s make-up, it would look amazing! If it doesn't feel right though, then I wouldn't keep it. You have enough things that you really do wear! xx
Love,
I hope the funeral was ok. I think you are marvellous to spend time with your Dad and help him through this difficult time.
As for the caftan, I do think you look beautiful in it but Vix's advice always rings true!
Give us a squizz at some of the things you plan to get rid of - you might be surprised who might like to buy some of your things and you won't have to go throught the ebay rigmarole.
Sarah xxx
i don't think it's really you...a tad too angelic perhaps?? What about making it shorter if it's not a Dior original it won't matter if you f*** it up? Hope all goes as well as it might at the funeral.....sometimes they can be quite uplifting .....thinking of you xx
Christina Dear,
It would make a great outfit for holiday. It looks cute on you.
I hope you and the Actor have a safe trip to the country. I will be thinking of you and your family.
Love you lots.
SB
My dear Christina, you have to find a way to take your photos. You are far too pretty and stylish not to be seen.
I keep you in my thought about the funeral.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I would save it for holiday, what vix said amor.
Yes, i agree wearhigh heels.P, should make el actor take your fotos.
Your and your family are in my thoughts, your an angel.
Love and light
Hope the memorial went as well as possible.
They make inexpensive little tripods--I paid just $2 for my mini-tripod and you can clamp it to all sorts of strange things.
Good luck with the funeral. I loathe a funeral but at least you can have a comforting drink or 5 at the wake.
At least you aren't married to Prince Albert.
Small Mercies.
Hope yesterday went as well as it could and you're ok.
In a complete change of subject I tagged you for an award/beauty meme thingie on my blog, if you're interested.

you really look fab in it! but, if you don't feel comfy in it, I definitely would sell it. Just like Vix and her quote said :)
I think it looks great on you but the high neckline might bother you in the warm weather. Good luck tomorrow - so sad - my thoughts will be with you. So sorry I haven't popped 'round lately - been crazed!
I love it. Love the spray of flowers. I have a shorter kaftan which I'm wearing on coolish summer mornings. Must put it on the blog, it's pretty darn bright. You could wear yours at night for dinner al fresco. Keep it.
Chuck it! I'm all for a Kaftan but that makes you look like you belong to a Hippie Cult. Hope Tuesday went off OK xx
