So, yesterday I had a day off. I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this post but I deserve a PhD in wasting time. In the morning I peered out the window and it was so foggy I couldn't even see the houses opposite. I went straight back to bed. There's a chunk of time wasted.
I got up again a few hours later and decided as I hadn't done any exercise for absolutely ages and as my Wii Fit STILL hasn't been switched on all year I'd better walk to the bank and the shops for a change. I dusted off my MBT's from the back of the wardrobe and tried to find something to go with them, not an easy task. The top half of me looked alright but the bottom half looked like I was wearing an orthopedic shoe. They are the most hideous looking things but I'm still hoping the "hours walk is equivalent to three hours of pilates" advertising. I have no idea if this is true because I hardly ever wear them.
As I was walking through Dalston a gang of teenagers whistled at me (even though I'm old enough to be their mother) then looked down and stared in amazement wondering what the hell I had on my feet. So embarrassing!
Vix and Alex - this is for you. Can you believe I went out in daylight wearing these?
They're even worse from the side! They are marginally better with a black legging, but not much.
Anyway to cut a long story short I got a bit carried with the exercise thing and walked for two hours. I had to go the bank, the stationers, buy some food and some cards to go with my parcels for my blogging friends - oh yes and I still haven't got to the Post Office either. I went in three card shops where I proceeded to tell the staff how dreadful their card selection was. One new card shop which has opened directly opposite the other one still sells the EXACTLY the same tat, why do we need another one opposite? Every card is covered in horrible flowery drawings and Care Bears. I think I was having a Mary Portas moment but they all thought it was very funny and agreed their cards are total crap.
I don't know what I did with my afternoon but by the time I'd got home, made a vegetable juice with my friend Frances and put a M&S chicken hotpot in the oven it was 9pm! I have no idea how that happened? How can I achieve so little in one day?
The point of this ramble is I was settling down with my TV dinner and a bit of Country House Rescue (is it only me that likes it? The really bonkers, eccentric families are the best) followed by a night of blog reading when I spoke to my friend Phoebe who said she'd pop round for an hour for a catch up as she was passing. Cut to two bottles of red and a lot of chat later and it's some ridiculous hour of the morning. All my plans went straight out the window. Again. So apologies again for my lack of blog reading, I'm going to catch up now.
Phoebe is the Fashion Director of a great new magazine called Ponystep which is out now.

How gorgeous is this picture of Kylie? I wish I could get my eyeliner to go like that but it always goes a bit wonky.
Have a lovely day xxx

Hi Christina, sounds rather like my day. It was so grey and miserable yesterday, I started with a huge list of things to get done, did nothing and spent most of it gawping at antique programmes on daytime TV.
I think you should post a picture of your footwear for us all to see.
Card shops are the pits, if I see another black and white Audrey Hepburn picture or one of those blue bears with the stitching showing I swear I'll chuck the rack on the floor. xxx
LOL, I know what you mean Christina! Days like that happen to me from time to time as well. But good for you walking around for 2 hours!
Have a lovely day yourself, x
Card shops are awful, aren't they? I try and pick up interesting postcards and notelet things whenever I see them - must find a safe place to stash them though as they're scattered everywhere and naturally I can never find one when I need one.
We must see a pic of the awful MBTs!
Have a child my dear and you'll never waste time again. Trust me.xx.
I'm with Kitty, although I must say now mine have grown up I'm back to the school of time-wasting.
Lots of love from Stockholm - it's sunny here today (although bloody cold still!)
Helena xx
I love Country House Rescue too, did you laugh at the bit when he popped into the room dressed as a GM potato?
I buy postcards from galleries and use them as cards nowadays. The pictures are always good, plus you are supporting the gallery, plus it is easier for people to prop up on the mantelpiece or stick on a pinboard xx
Dear Sophia's Lover, thanks for the poem xx
Dear Vix, oh good I feel better. I might do the same today. Why are card shops so crap? Pic of the offending MBT's posted for you and Alex xx
Dear Alex, I'm the same, God knows where I've stashed them all. Hope you like the pic! xx
Dear Kitty, haha! but I like wasting time xx
Dear Helena, how lovely, have a great time xx
Dear Margaret, yes that was really funny! Great idea. I really need to do the same and get organised xx
Hahahaha! They aren't you but if they tone everything up (not that I think you need it) I'll let you waer tham in the dark.
Was I weird for finding Hector in Country House Rescue rather attractive? I usually loathe posh blokes but the can of lager and the GM spud outfit won me over. xxx
and this is the reason that i never take a day off work to tackle my to-do list (despite it being the longest ever!)
my day, if i don't have a planned schedule, goes like this:
get up, read a book, make some coffee, forget to drink it, reheat the coffee, read some more, still not dressed..move some things around a bit in the hope the flat looks more tidy, more coffee, flat doesn't look tidyer..
all of a sudden it's 4pm and i'm still in my pjs or something - argh!
Did you miss Riches to rags? It wasn't good, it wasn't awful either - poor Lily.
And as for that MBT trainer thing well they are horrendously hideous but how do your legs feel today??
Love the Kylie pic - I wish I had a scanner to send you old photos of me back in the day. I've got all these old school prints and cards which I just put back up in the attic.
Christina if there was a PHD for time wasting I would have it! Love Country House rescue, Hector was a class act, dividing the inheritance over a bottle of amyl in a Brighton nightclub, brilliant!

Dear Vix, aren't they shocking!! I do need it honestly - you how little I exercise. The Actor bought them because I'd read about them and banged on about them and they were £130 so I feel I should get some wear out of them. I am eyeing the Easytone trainer which apparently does the same. MBT's are so bloody heavy the weight of them probably tones you up!
No that's odd! I'm totally with you. The spud outfit did it xx
Dear Dinoprincesschar, that's brilliant. I can totally relate to all of that, especially "move some things around" Thanks for making me laugh xx
Dear Kate, I saw it at 5am this morning. It made them look really disorganised but they did pull it together really well in the end which I hope they show in later episodes. I laughed at Lily and Alison talking about Alfie's computer game and the bit where Sarah missed her plane and had to spend an extra week in LA.
Take photos of them in good light, that's what I do. I'd love to see them xx
Dear Dash, we could share it! Yes that bit was quite genius. I'm so glad everyone else watches it too! xx
I'll arm-wrestle you for the Time Waster Of The World Award. I swear. I am the worst of the worst. Sounds to me like you had a fairly productive day- and SIX hours of pilates substitute! Good job!
I love Country House Rescue, my fave was the fashion obsessed woman lat year who ended up using her house for editorials - I'd have loved to have got my mitts on her collection!
Card shops are shit, I get all mine online at nineteenseventythree.com - really reasonable too. xxx
Dear Mary, you're on! There has to be some benefit to wearing something quite so ugly. I've got a blister now, typical! xx
Dear Becka, oh yes! Wasn't she great! What an amazing vintage collection she had. I loved her place too. Thanks for the card link xx
I have this cycle of having lazy days and then getting very stressed about the feeling of not doing anything, then needing a lazy day to get over the stress! Let's face it, if we need to live like cats every now and then (who are masters of the laze) it can only be good for our health. Reading about your lovely drifty day actually calmed my heart rate.
Card shops are crap. I make my own.
I wish I could get Country House Rescue. I love bonkers, eccentric families. I grew up in one. I guess we weren't wealthy enough to be termed eccentric though. We were just crazy instead.
Love you. Good for you for getting off your ass and having a good walk.

I am a life member of the Time Wasters Club too. How marvellous!
I buy weird old vintage cards in op shops and send them to people at inappropriate times. I once bought a pack of 25 identical cards that said "Happy Xmas to My Grandfather". Very weird - does someone have 25 grandfathers or do they send their one grandfather the same card for 25 years? I sent it to everybody for their birthday that year. See... more time wasting... telling you stories that nobody wants to hear!!!
Embrace the hideousness of the shoe. Perhaps you could cover them in sequins and studs?
Sarah xxx
Hi my dear-well good for you that you did use your MBTs,2 hours must really have done some good!! I did watch Lilys programme last night, found it very interesting and will definitely be watching the rest of the series. Thanks so much for your kind and lovely comment on my new venture, its so much appreciated, will look forward to you visiting!! xxx
Hello my dear Christina, do they actually works???. If they do, please, let me know. Nothing more boring than going to the gym, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Hi Christina,
My name is Ian B, I'm a freelance fashion and beauty journalist.
My friends at The Independent are trying to get in touch with you.
I've sent you a message on Twitter, if you could get back to me at:

I'd be super grateful.
Best,

aaah happy daze.........no such fun now am a worker bee!! xx speak soon.......if I can stay awake.......
Oh dear, it must have been so hard for you to wear those shoes :) (but think about all the excercise you got and how great it must have felt!) I hate being in one country and wanting to style clothes a certain way only to find out my brown shoes are in a different one and would have to wear say black and it looks awful. (i do travel a lot, and have my stuff over 4 different countries yuck, and usually live out of suitcase double yuck- luckily that's almost over!)
SO point is, I know how you must have felt, because I'\m always so self conscious about what I'm wearing, ESPECIALLY if i'm wearing somehting wrong way... and I almost always want to explain to everyone that sees me what is behind it :P haha! :)
Well atleast you got a great work out. I always found black trainers funny.
my sister love the big fluffy bear cards but next time go to a charity shop for vintage cards.
hope you have a great day amor.
Oh isnt it just so easy to watch the day fly by. I have a pair of those shoes too - gathering dust - cant wear mine they are too big and them PROPERLY!!!!! fitted in the sports shop on the Kings Rd. Xxxx
I'm having the same kind of day today. I had to laugh at your shoes...because I have the same in the more ridiculous color of white! Mentioned you in my tuesday post because of the delicious juice recipe I got off you earlier this year.
But walking for too long is never bad:).
My friend bought a pair of MBTs last year and didn't realize you were supposed to wear them for maximum 3 hours on your first day...
She wore them all day, 11 hours on her feet, and had to spend the next two days in bed - legs had completely stopped working! They have stayed in the wardrobe ever since.
Love the blog x
My friend, Paul Tierney interviewed Janice Dickinson (in bed and half naked) for this issue of Ponystep - it's hilarious.
Ah haha brilliant Cheekie new boot... Bless u... I had 2 wear them 4 work in a lovely pale blue & refused after my boss saying he didn't want to catch me wearing them out in a club ...
"Yeah Hardly" Xxx
