Vision On - Art night at The Drop

"An evening of groovy old music, pencils, paper drawing, crayons, plasticine, alcohol, and improvised gallery, creative oddness, weird old TV and more"

My next stop of the night was Vision On at The Drop, a cool little venue which my friend Nathan Wilkins promotes just off Kingsland High Street.

Vision On is a monthly evening of art organised and hosted by Corinne Drewery who many of you will remember from the band Swing Out Sister and musician Jonny Trunk.

We sat at tables in groups and were given plasticine, crayons and pens.  I drew the girl in front of me (I feel really bad but I didn't get her name - I shall find out), but she was drawing some plasticine animals at the same time so her head kept moving.  The top half of her looked lovely but her chin ended up like Bruce Forsyth's!  And I was drawing in biro as I couldn't find a pencil which didn't help the situation.

It was lots of fun, next time I go I shall take a pencil and rubber, then I'll show you what I've drawn or made.  I've not made anything in plasticine for a good thirty years!

The Drop promoter, Nathan Wilkins, one of the funniest men I know.  There was a drawing of Nathan someone had done in charcoal but I won't blog it as he looks about seventy five in it.

Gorgeous Corinne Drewery was our host and also got on the decks

Adele who works for my favourite milliner Stephen Jones

Adele looks stunning in hat by Stephen

DJ and record producer Martin Green and Jarvis Cocker both did some good drawings.  I forgot to take a picture of them, although I'm not sure orange charcoal photographs too well.

The beautiful Phoebe Arnold who had customised her sunglasses with plasticine and made a snail

The lady in front of me (I must get her name!) made this rather delightful group of plasticine animals.

Vision On is at The Drop on the first Thursday of every month, and a very jolly affair it is too.

This sounds like the sort of thing I'd love, if only I had any creative talent whatsoever! Very impressive plasticine animals :)
