Hedy Lamarr
Leopard print can look amazing and very exotic. Unfortunately I have to be very careful with it or I can look a bit like Bet Lynch. I can get away with light or darker shades but not the orange and black variety, I just look trashy. I tend to use it for accents only now. I think you have to have the right colouring to carry off leopard print successfully and I don't think it works with my pale English skin.
In my attempt to clean up my laptop I shall be posting some of my many picture collections. I do hope I'm not boring you with endless pictures and posts about my wardrobe? Here are a selection of images containing leopard print from the Thirties to the present day.

Daria Werbowy - what a great dress!
I've always wanted a Victorian conversation chair, not sure whether I'd go for leopard though, probably a plain velvet and this one looks a little bit too new. I love the combination of leopard and red.
I like the colours in this bedroom
I think this leopard print carpet by Ralph Lauren is gorgeous
And I'd be very happy to have this painting 'Two leopards playing in the Chenge Menagerie' by Jacques-Laurent Agasse on my wall.
What do you think of leopard print?
Have a wonderful Sunday xxx

You forgot to include Audrey Hepburn's outfit from the final scene of "Charade" - look it up. It's worth it! I'm pretty sure it's real leopard, too!
Dear NY, I did look it up but there are only stills with the little leopard hat and they go blurred when you blow them up. I must watch that movie again. Have a great Sunday xx
I love Leopard print, I should do a post on my pieces LOL xx
What a fantastic selection of images. The Grace Coddington photo is stunning. And yes please to the painting. x
I love it but only as small accents, I think it's difficult to carry it off without looking a bit Bet Lynch - or Pat Butcher :)
Gorgeous selection of photos Christina....I love Carole Lombard, Gene Tierney is stunning and no wonder Frank Sinatra never stopped loving Ava Gardner, she was so beautiful all her life, wow.
I always love your "old Hollywood" choices :)
Love the conversation chair too, didn't know they were called that :)
Happy Sunday! xx
Loving the leopard - and your pictures show just how timeless it is. That Dior dress is gorgeous, and Gene Tierney and Lara Stone both look absolutely beautiful?
Dear Christina, I adore leopard print but you're so right, it can look very Bet Lynch if overdone. You've chosen some amazing images. I could never tire of your image selection, you have impeccible taste. xxx
I don't own a single piece of leopard or animal print anything - how unadventurous am I?! I think I'm just a bit scared of the boldness of it as I immediately prefer the black and white photos in this post where it's all a bit more toned down. Apparently I was fond of parading round in my grandma's fake leopard fur coat as a child though!
I adore leopard print, you have some great pictures here. I am currently waiting for a baker boy cap in leopard to arrive from the US, which I recently bought on etsy.
And I have always wanted leopard print carpet going up a flight of stairs. I think I have finally convinced Mr D that this is a good idea, now all I need is a house to do it in.
I love a bit of leopard print! I was actually thinking the same as Ruth, might do a post on my leopard collection! hope you are well. e xx
I suspect I might look a bit Elsie Tanner to your Bet Lynch. But who gives a toss - wear it and be damned. I would LOVE to have a leopard print coat to wear in the manner of Heady LaMarr.....

WV - compo - yup, that's my general fashion sense.
Dear Ruth, oh yes! Do it! xx
Dear Caroline, thank you. I love Grace! I've been looking for a leopard painting for ages, glad you like it. I think you can get a cheap print online xx
Dear Simone, I always approach it with caution.
Ahh, I'm glad you like them. I can never resist a great old picture amongst the new girls. Weren't they divine...
Yes a conversation chair, not practical but beautiful. And practicality isn't my strong point xx
Dear Mrs TNMA, absolutely. I love your coat! Gene Tierney is so beautiful and I adore that picture of Lara too. Galliano can do no wrong in my eyes (if you meant the new one?) I love the 1947 one as well xx
Dear Vix, thank you so much. I have many more folders with pictures squirreled away, i'm delighted you like them xx
Dear Alex, it is a bold look. Go for accessories or a toned down version. I can't do the proper colour I just look cheap! xx
Dear Margaret, that sounds lovely, hope you blog it. I've always wanted leopard carpet too. I saw a leopard carpet in World of Interiors ages ago it was from some pricey designer in Chelsea. I worked out how much it would cost to carpet my TV room which is about 12 foot square... £5000! I think I'll wait til someone does a cheaper version! xx
Dear SS, oh, you should do it. I love seeing other people's stuff. It'll all be so different xx
Dear Ali, hahaha! I'm sure we could find you a Hedy Lamarr version. What's WV? I'm intrigued xx
Overall, I don't really like leopard print (except on leopards). Unless Ralph Lauren does it, I find it tacky.
You're glam enough though. You could probably wear it without looking tacky.
Dear SB, on the right girl I think it can look great. Yes, Ralph does a lovely dull version, that carpet is gorgeous!
Thank you for saying that but honestly I can look sooo tacky in it. I can only occasionally get away with it. Hope you're having a good week. It's rainy and dull here but I'm happy xx
Hi Christina, I am inspired to do something more on leopard print now - I did the "Obsession" one a couple of weeks ago, but think I forgot to mention we have leopard print wallpaper in our hall! You are completely right about how to wear it, and certainly I don't suit the paler greyish ones, or the yellowy ones either. I think my passion stems from a dress in Honey magazine when I was in my teens, it was leopard print with red roses splashed on it - way out of my pocket money league, but then years later I bought a Blumarine twin set in the same print. Sounds corny but sometimes wonder if the Leo birthsign is why I am so obsessed - I like big hair too!!
And I forgot to say that the furniture is lovely - they have a chair like that in the Armoury suite at the Witchery in Edinburgh - I thought it was for ladies waiting to be asked to dance way back when x
wow, what a great and long list of gorgeous vintage and leopard pattern inspiration! Thanks for putting all this effort in it and sharing it with us! Hope to link to this post some time soon, either from my design blog or the fashion blog... hm!
Scrumptious - a wonderful selection of pics. I am typing this in bed in leopard print pyjamas! I also have a fab swing coat that I bought at "Vintage at Goodwood" because I was freezing! I feel very "modette" in it...
